Dance Program Overview:  

NO DANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

We are looking for 19 women to build the Atlanta community through a dedicated 11-week program starting Sunday October 3, 2010 @ 3pm. The program consists of Tara teachings, mantras and learning the Mandala Dance of the Twenty-One Praises of Tara. 22 women are needed to dance a complete Mandala.

WHERE: East Lake Commons Co-housing

Common House Classroom- (located on the 1st floor of the building. Access via outside stairs.)

Classes:  Sundays from 3-5pm

Dates: Starting October 3, 2010

Continues: 10/10, 10/17, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9 2011, 1/16 2011

Completion: Sunday January 23, 2011 with a public dance offering of the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara with live music and performance by Anahata, the artisic and music director of Tara Dhatu. Location TBD

Cost: $110 (11 classes @ $10 per class) to be paid in advance by check.

  • 3 payments of $37 to be paid in full by 12/12/10.

Required Materials:  Tara Text: $7, Mandala Dance of the Twenty-One Praises CD: $15

Who: Women are invited to dance. Men can participate and learn the choreography as Protectors.  Protectors keep the sacred space during the Mandala Dance.

PROGRAM INTRODUCTION ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 26 @ 1PM   East Lake Common House

An afternoon of discovery, building community and learning about the sacred dance practice to the Goddess Tara.

  •  A complete overview of the Tara Dance Sangha of Atlanta’s 11-week dance program starting on Sunday October 3, 2010
  • Learn the myths and stories of the female Buddha.
  • Hear the history of Tara Dhatu and lineage of this practice.
  • Participate in the Dance of Tara’s Mantra.
  • Enjoy Tea and Treats

Regarding Missed Classes:

  • The program is structured to accommodate 2 missed classes.
  • You must be present for 9 classes that includes the public dance offering on Sunday January 23, 2011 
  • The first 7 classes will always include a review of the previous week.
  • Classes on 12/19, 1/9/11 & 1/16/11 will focus on perfecting the Mandala Dance and require a stand-in if you will be absent. Tara Dance Sangha will provide these people. Please give at least one full week's notice prior to missing any of these classes.
  • Private instruction is available.
